Implementing the Emotion Works programme at St Philip’s has been a purposeful, whole-school initiative. All staff, including teachers, teaching assistants and support staff, have been fully trained to ensure a shared understanding of the Emotion Works cogs and consistent emotional language across the school. This has enabled the approach to be embedded into daily practice rather than used as a stand-alone resource.

Each class has established an Emotion Works display, regularly referenced during lessons and discussions to help pupils identify emotions, triggers, body sensations and regulation strategies. All classes have completed baseline lessons, giving children a secure foundation in emotional understanding while enabling staff to assess needs and plan next steps effectively.

In addition, some classes are delivering targeted Emotion Works interventions during a morning soft start, providing structured emotional check-ins and regulation support to promote readiness for learning. As we move forward, we are looking forward to further embedding Emotion Works across the curriculum, strengthening pupil voice, and refining targeted interventions to ensure sustained impact on wellbeing and resilience across the school.
