Emotion Works in the North West
An inclusive Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Programme for Primary Schools

- Are you looking for a tried, tested and proven educational programme for positive results in Emotional Learning & Wellbeing?
- Do you value a programme that includes implementation support, staff training and motivating learning and teaching activities for your teachers and pupils?
Look no further!
The Emotion Works programme and organisation is a longstanding resource in Scottish Education used by over 500 schools, nurseries and specialist services to deliver high quality and impactful Social Emotional Learning for all.
Over recent years our delivery approach has evolved into an online support and membership service which means we are now able to reach and work with a larger number of schools and educators as part of our growing Community network of practice and change.
During this school session we’ve seen a growing interest and buy in to our Primary Programme from schools in the North West of England and we’ve been very encouraged by the Cog-tastic work we’ve seen and positive feedback from teachers and leads in those schools, so feel ready to explore extending our reach to the area further.
Maybe you’d like to join a cohort of NW schools getting started on using Emotion Works next session?
St Philip's CofE Primary, Litherland
Our first English school to achieve an Emotion Works Award!
Each class has established an Emotion Works display, regularly referenced during lessons and discussions to help pupils identify emotions, triggers, body sensations and regulation strategies. All classes have completed baseline lessons, giving children a secure foundation in emotional understanding while enabling staff to assess needs and plan next steps effectively.
In addition, some classes are delivering targeted Emotion Works interventions during a morning soft start, providing structured emotional check-ins and regulation support to promote readiness for learning. As we move forward, we are looking forward to further embedding Emotion Works across the curriculum, strengthening pupil voice, and refining targeted interventions to ensure sustained impact on wellbeing and resilience across the school.
