CPD SESSIONS FOR TEACHERS

During the 2026-27 school session we’ll be building on our Primary Teacher CPD Pathway with a new programme of live twilight sessions for teachers at different stages in their own EW journey. 

Which session is right for you?

  • I’m just starting out on my own Emotion Works journey and haven’t yet delivered Cog Model lessons –> Join the BRONZE Level session
  • I’ve delivered Cog Model lessons but now looking to deliver Cog specific lessons–> Join the SILVER Level session
  • I’ve delivered Cog Model and 1-cog-at-a-time lessons, and am now ready to start planning my own lessons linked to literacy activities and emotion specific themes –> Join the GOLD Level session
  • I’m already experienced and feel confident teaching at all of the above levels –> please see our Primary Curriculum MENTOR training opportunity at the bottom of this page and sign up for more information if this is of interest

Primary Teacher Mentor Training

If you’ve been using Emotion Works for some time and you’re experienced in planning and delivering the Cog Curriculum across different levels, you might like to consider registering to join our first cohort for Primary Curriculum MENTOR training beginning in October.

The training will involve a mix of in-person sessions, online meetings and practical experience opportunities to develop your mentoring skills with new users of the Cog Curriculum.

Getting Started with Bronze Basics

3:45-4:15pm These quick half hour live welcome sessions are perfect for individual Teachers who are new to Emotion Works, staff teams who are all starting on a Bronze School Award or for teachers who have used Emotion Works before but would like to be brought up to speed with our new programmes, training opportunities & the CPD pathway.

 

What we’ll cover  

  • Examples of Introductory activities and lesson ideas (BRONZE Level) across each stage of the Primary School / Programme.
  • The Criteria you need to be able to refer to yourself as a ‘Bronze Level’ Teacher

Optional – Silver Level training  – Stay on from 4:15 – 4:45pm if you’d also like to look ahead at the Silver level content. Or join us for a Silver session later in the year.

Stepping Up to Silver

4:15-4:45pm This quick half hour live session is for Class teachers who have introduced the Cog Model to their class using Bronze Level teaching experiences, and are now ready to move on to SILVER Level Training and Class Teaching.

4:45-5pm There will be an opportunity for live Q&A after the session if you have a particular question you’d like to ask or would like to listen in to others.

What we’ll cover  

  • Examples of 1 Cog at a time (SILVER Level) activities and lesson ideas across each stage of the Primary School / Programme.
  • The Criteria you need to be able to refer to yourself as a ‘Silver Level’ Teacher

Gold Star Teachers

This 45 minute live session is for Class teachers who are experienced delivering the Cog Curriculum through Cog Model and Single Cog focus work, and who are now moving on to planning Emotion Works lessons and topics using literacy links and the wider curriculum.

You’ll either be a Class Teacher in a Silver awarded school, moving on to Gold level roll out, or someone who has been working at this level already and would like to look at a Gold Star teacher accreditation. 

What we’ll cover  

  • An overview of our new CPD pathway for Primary Teachers and how it relates to Primary School roll-out.
  • The Criteria you need to be able to refer to yourself as a ‘Gold Level’ Teacher
  • Examples of Gold Level planning and practice delivery.
  • Self-assessment of where you are now and what your next steps could be.

Teacher Mentors

As we develop our CPD pathway for personal accreditation, we’re planning a series of events to help us connect with teachers who are experienced in delivering the Cog Curriculum through Cog Model and Single Cog focus work, and know how to plan Emotion Works lessons using literacy prompts and wider curriculum links.

This is the final stage of the teacher CPD journey and will hopefully appeal to

  • An overview of our new CPD pathway for Primary Teachers and how it relates to Primary School roll-out.
  • The Criteria you need to be able to refer to yourself as a Bronze, Silver & ‘Gold Star’ Teacher
  • Self-assessment of where you are now and what your next steps could be.
