Assessment & tracking tools for pupils

To help you identify where your pupils are with their emotional literacy before starting with the Cog Teaching programme, we provide 2 baseline assessment options - namely our 'Quick' assessment tools for assessing Emotion Word and Regulation Strategy knowledge, and our 'Timed' assessment to assess knowledge the first 5 cog concepts. Both of these assessments can be repeated at a later date after using Emotion Works for some time to track progress.

Evaluation tools for teachers & staff

When investing in a programme to support pupils' emotional literacy, it's important that staff feel that the training and resources provide them with what they need to feel confident and competent to deliver the programme. We provide some options for teacher and staff evaluations below.

School evaluation tools

Our 3rs School Evaluation Tool is aimed at helping schools consider where they currently are with their knowledge and use of trauma principles and practices. A follow-up date can be set for re-evaluation to assess progress.

Newsround article - Back to school advice from children to children

This Newsround article shows a series of interviews with Primary children answering the following questions…

  • How did it feel to go back to school?
  • What did you miss most about school?
  • What message or advice do you have for others returning to school?

Watching with pupils could lead to similar questions being discussed or written about, linked in with the Lockdown Memories workbook below, or as a stand alone activity.

Could also be a helpful stimulus for some role play  /drama as reporter and pupils who had different experiences of school closures. This will lend itself to the ongoing ‘News Report’ theme over the coming weeks.
